Natural stone is a beautiful option for many areas around the home, such as kitchen countertops and shower walls. Types of natural stone can include marble, limestone, quartz, travertine, onyx, slate, glass, and concrete. Because these stones are natural, there are some precautions that can be taken in order to preserve the look and quality of that stone for many years to come. General Do’s & Don’ts

Do dust mop floors frequently

Do use mild detergent or stone soap when cleaning surfaces

Do rinse and dry surfaces with clean water after washing

Do blot spills as soon as possible.

Do protect countertop surfaces with coasters or placemats and floor surfaces with mats or rugs.

Don’t use vinegar, bathroom cleaners, or any other acidic cleaners on marble, limestone, travertine, or onyx surfaces.

Don’t use abrasive cleaners such as dry cleaners.

Don’t mix ammonia and bleach or any other chemicals together (unless directions state otherwise) for this can be toxic.

Don’t use worn vacuum cleaners for they can scratch the stone’s surface.

 
 

Stain Removal

  1. Remove all debris.

  2. Blot spill - do not wipe.

  3. Flush the area with water and mild soap several times.

  4. Dry the area with a soft cloth.

  5. Repeat if necessary.

  6. If the stain remains, you may want to contact a stone care specialist.
